Monrovia, Liberia –Friday,Nov. 21,2025– The National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA) has issued a special Employees’ Day message, expressing profound appreciation to its staff ahead of Liberia’s maiden celebration of World Fisheries Day, scheduled for November 21 in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

In its statement, NaFAA reflected on a symbolic story of builders whose collective commitment—rather than a quest for personal recognition—enabled them to construct an extraordinary structure. According to the Authority, the story mirrors the unity, discipline, and selflessness displayed daily by NaFAA employees across the country.

NaFAA emphasized that its institutional progress is rooted in this shared commitment to mission and national impact.

“Every achievement of NaFAA is a testament to the courage, commitment, and competence of our employees,” the Authority stated. “The spirit of unity and service demonstrated by our staff remains the foundation of every success recorded in Liberia’s fisheries and aquaculture sector.”

The Authority extended appreciation on behalf of His Excellency the President of Liberia and the Government, acknowledging the contributions of employees working along the coastline, in inland communities, aquaculture farms, laboratories, administrative offices, and enforcement units. Families of staff were also recognized for the ongoing support that enables employees to serve with dedication.

Reflecting on Employees’ Day, NaFAA cited the words of Nelson Mandela: “Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.” The Authority praised its workforce for demonstrating resilience, professionalism, and integrity during challenging periods.

“Thank you for showing up with excellence, integrity, dedication, and pride,” the message added.

Civil Service and Carter Center Officials Call for Continued Professionalism

During the Employees’ Day celebrations, two key dignitaries encouraged NaFAA staff to uphold professionalism and ethical conduct as they execute their duties.

Dr. Josiah K. Joekai, Director-General of the Civil Service Agency (CSA), urged employees to embrace respect and high ethical standards in the workplace. He further challenged NaFAA’s administration to foster a healthy working environment and invest in employee development through targeted capacity-building initiatives.

Also speaking at the event, Madam Corina Bowier Getteh, Human Resources Manager of The Carter Center Liberia, underscored the importance of workplace etiquette. She noted that proper professional behavior strengthens teamwork, creates a positive work environment, and enhances the institution’s overall reputation.

NaFAA’s Employees’ Day observance forms part of a series of activities leading to Liberia’s first-ever World Fisheries Day celebration, which aims to highlight the essential role of the fisheries and aquaculture sector in national development.
