Bilibo, Grand Gedeh County| April 30, 2026 | A suspected act of negligence triggered a devastating gas explosion early Sunday morning, reducing a four-bedroom house to ashes and leaving three people seriously injured.

‎The incident occurred around 7:00 a.m. on April 26, when a man identified as Kollie was reportedly measuring fuel near a woman who was cooking over an open flame.

‎The proximity of the flammable substance to the fire is believed to have caused the explosion, which quickly engulfed the building.

‎Three victims were rushed to Bilibo Clinic for medical treatment. As of press time, no fatalities have been reported.

‎Local community leaders have expressed strong concern over the incident, citing a disregard for basic safety measures.

‎The explosion has left a family homeless and others in critical condition, raising fresh calls for improved public awareness on fire and fuel safety.
