Monrovia, Liberia |March 18, 2026| The Grand Kru Legislative Caucus has taken proactive measures to prevent the escalation of a land dispute between Bolloh and Sasstown communities.

An emergency meeting was held Tuesday, March 17, 2026 in Monrovia with representatives from both communities to ensure that tensions do not spiral out of control and result into violence.

The meeting, chaired by Senator Numene Bartekwa and co-chaired by District #2 Representative Jonathan Fonati Koffa, brought together more than 20 stakeholders, including community leaders and Caucus staffers.

Both communities presented conflicting reports of encroachment by miners, with each side alleging that the other had violated land boundaries.

Several incidents of violence, including assaults, were reported, causing fear and agitation among residents.

Representative Koffa emphasized fact-based intervention, calling on county authorities to submit official reports and avoid acting on rumors.

He urged both communities to halt hostilities, vacate the disputed land, and respect free movement of citizens.

A four-member delegation from his office, to be reinforced with two additional members, will monitor developments on the ground and report fact–based information to the Caucus.

The Caucus issued a moratorium on activities within the disputed area and mandated that community leaders communicate these directives to their people. Leaders stressed the importance of compliance to ensure peace and prevent further conflict.

The emergency meeting concluded with a firm message from the Caucus: leadership and proactive oversight are key to resolving disputes and maintaining harmony in Grand Kru County.
