River Gee County |March 21, 2026| Residents of Nyantianbo Wessitoken Community in River Gee County can now breathe a sigh of relief as access to safe drinking water has been restored, following a timely intervention by the KunCares Foundation.
The initiative, led by the Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Cllr. Kunkunyon resulted in the successful rehabilitation of several damaged hand pumps across the community.
The restoration has significantly improved the availability of clean and safe drinking water for residents who had long struggled with severe shortages.
The intervention comes in the wake of a media report by Voice of River Gee, which highlighted the dire situation faced by the community due to non-functional water facilities.
According to the report, the breakdown of multiple hand pumps had left residents especially women and children traveling long distances daily in search of potable water.
This situation not only placed a physical burden on community members but also exposed them to serious health risks associated with unsafe water sources and poor sanitation conditions.
Moved by the urgency of the situation, the KunCares Foundation responded promptly by deploying a team to assess and rehabilitate the damaged water points.
The effort forms part of the Foundation’s broader mission to improve living conditions and promote sustainable development in underserved communities.

Speaking on the development, Cllr. Kunkunyon reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to addressing pressing humanitarian challenges.
“Access to clean drinking water is a basic human right. We remain dedicated to supporting communities in need and ensuring that essential services are restored and sustained,” he stated.
Community members have expressed deep appreciation for the intervention, describing it as both timely and impactful.
Many residents noted that the restored hand pumps will greatly enhance sanitation, improve hygiene practices, and reduce the daily hardships previously endured.
Local leaders also praised the initiative, emphasizing that access to safe water will contribute to better health outcomes and overall community well-being.
The KunCares Foundation continues to play a pivotal role in advancing humanitarian and development efforts, particularly in rural parts of Liberia where access to basic services such as clean water, healthcare, and education remains limited. This latest intervention underscores the importance of collaboration between media institutions and development organizations in identifying and addressing critical community needs
