Lofa County, Liberia | April 8, 2026 |Following multiple media reports of water shortage in the County by the frontline Rural Reporters News Network (RRNN) a local nongovernment organization; Water for Life has commenced the construction of water wells in 38 communities combined across Lofa.
Many towns and villages were captured in this major water development undertakings.
Water for Life, recently arrived in the Lofa and began buttressing central government efforts by providing safe and affordable drinking water for 38 communities including towns and villages among others.
According to Lofa County WASH Coordinator, Mr. Francis Sesay, the organization Water for Life is currently constructing wells and in some instances, hand pump in 38 communities particularly, in areas that have never benefited from safe drinking water.
According to Coordinator Francis, the team is working in Kolahun, Foya, Voinjama and Zorzor districts; all in Lofa County.
WASH Coordinator Francis Sesay further added that the “Team is buttressing efforts to supply needed communities with safe drinking water.”
Residents of Lukasu and Kailahun towns are now celebrating the long-awaited Borehole machine arrival on March 29, 2026 in Lukambeh Administrative District.
Moreover, the Borehole machine is being sponsored by “Water for Life” geared towards bringing much needed relief to citizens of Lukasu, Kailahun and host of communities in the county, Salia Sannoh, a resident told Rural Reporters News during an interview.
The construction of wells and hand pumps, when completed will provide safe drinking water to thousands of citizens in Lofa County.
The “WATER FOR LIFE” says it will continue sincere and consistent efforts in bolstering national government drive in WASH associated delivery services nationwide as far as water and sanitation are concerned.
The Rural Reporters News Network on several occasions reported the story of lack of safe drinking water in several communities in Lofa County especially during the dry season, it was from this back drop that keen attention was given by Water for Life to help the 38 communities stationed in the districts of Voinjama, Kolahun, Foya and Zorzor respectively.
Meanwhile, Lofa County WASH Coordinator, Mr. Francis Sesay is calling on the central government and the Lofa County Legislative caucus to partner with Family for Life in order to ensure full success of the current water initiative so that most parts of the county can also benefit.
