Monrovia, Liberia |May 25, 2026| A family in Monrovia is calling for urgent medical attention and a full investigation after a 3-month-old baby reportedly suffered severe damage to a hand and arm following treatment at a local hospital.
According to the family, the baby was taken to James Davis Hospital for medical care while in healthy condition. After receiving treatment, the child’s hand and arm allegedly became badly swollen and discolored.
Relatives claim the injury may have been linked to an injection or IV treatment given at the hospital. They said the condition reportedly worsened over time, causing deep concern for the child’s health and future wellbeing.
The family further alleged that instead of immediately providing advanced emergency care, medical staff reportedly took photographs while the baby’s condition continued to deteriorate.
The mother and baby were later transferred to John F. Kennedy Medical Center for further treatment. According to the family, doctors there reportedly discussed the possibility of amputating the child’s affected hand or arm.
The incident has sparked emotional reactions from community members and supporters, many of whom are expressing sympathy for the child and family during the difficult situation.
Community advocates are now calling for urgent specialist care to help save the baby’s limb and improve the child’s chances of recovery.
Supporters are also demanding an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the reported injury to determine whether medical negligence may have occurred.
Citizens say transparency and accountability are important to help restore public confidence in healthcare services and ensure patient safety for families across Liberia.
Many people are now urging health authorities to carefully review the matter, support the affected family, and ensure that the child receives the best possible medical care moving forward.
