TOE TOWN, RIVER CESS COUNTY -Toe Town Public School has begun a major reconstruction work with support from Rising Academy Network, a non-governmental organization supporting public schools in Liberia. The reconstruction exercise is part of efforts to improve the learning condition of students, the school administration has said.
The renovation exercise is being supported by Rising Academy Network. Materials donated include 50 bags of cement, four shovels, one wheelbarrow, two head pans, one handsaw, one roll of wire and 50 packs of wire nails. These materials are intended to support the effort of the community to rebuild the school.
Speaking to the Rural Reporters News Network following the delivery of the materials, the principal of the school, Genesis Whegelee termed the donation as a boost to the reconstruction of the Toe Town Public School.
Genesis said the need for such materials could not be over emphasized, noting that the arrival of the cement and other construction materials have now paved the way for the commencement of major renovation work on the school facilities.
The Toe Town Public School principal praised the NGO for its continued support to the Toe Town Public School. He called for more support through cash and material donations to enable them complete the building.
The Toe Town Public School Principal named 50 bags of cement, steel rods and other construction materials as additional materials needed to complete the project. He also called for cash donation in order to pay the local engineers doing the renovation work.
For several years, the Toe Town Public School has been in the news for the wrong reasons. With the support from Rising Academy Network, the school is expected to regain the trust and confidence of the public, particularly parents desiring of enrolling their kind in the school.
Rising Academie is a growing network of schools in West Africa. The organization was founded in Sierra Leone in 2014 to provide emergency education to children kept out of school by the Ebola Epidemic. It is currently working with about 29 government schools in rural communities of Liberia under the Partnership Schools for Liberia initiative. And Toe Town Public School is one of the schools that the NGO is working with in River Cess County.
