The General Manager of Kpandu Construction Company has been arrested over failure of his company to implement County and Social Development Funds (CSDF) project in River Cess County.
Hammed L. Horton was arrested on November 15, 2024 in Monrovia by court officers of the Cestos City Magisterial Court accompanied by River Cess County Attorney, Martin M. Tumoe and brought to River Cess County for prosecution.
Kpandu, a construction company was contracted by the local authority of River Cess County in 2023 to construct the Jo River Bridge in Bodowhea Town, Monweh Statutory District.
Following the bidding process, the county leadership of River Cess in May of 2023 entered into a contractual agreement with Kpandu Construction Company for the replacement of the forty-foot bridge to a reinforced concrete bridge.
Amount in the tone of $90,000 United States Dollars was allocated by delegates at the March 2023 Special County Council Sitting held in Cestos City.
Rural Reporters News Network learned that the company received 55% of the total cost of the bridge without doing any substantive work. Kpandu then abandoned the project after demolishing the old log bridge that connected Jo River Administrative District with the rest of lower River Cess.
Kpandu is just one of many contractors that have received money for project and abandoned them. The local authority of River Cess through its legal counsel, County Attorney Martin M. Tumoe has however vowed to go after all construction companies involved.
Meanwhile, the Grand Jury of the November Term of Court is expected to indict the Kpandu Manager.
