In a grand New Year interaction with journalists in Lofa County on January 01, 2025 in his home, David Selma Town, Senator Cyrus asked Lofa journalists to express their challenges as media institutions in Lofa County.

After several remarks by different media institutions those in attendance informed the Senator that they are confronted with the issue of mobility.

Senator Cyrus in a handshake with Lofa County Community radios and RRNN’s reporter J. Mason Kollie.

Senator Cyrus in response said he is going to provide 10 new brand motorcycles to 10 community radio stations as a means of easing the transportation burden they have been encountering. He went on to admonish the stations that the bikes were intended for their respective stations and not individuals.

The Senator of Lofa County, Momo Cyrus, then added that as time goes by ,other kinds of support would be provided to further empower the community radio stations.

Speaking to media institutions representatives on his farm in David Selma Town, Senator Cyrus said, he understands the many challenges faced by rural community radio stations especially the movement of reporters to cover stories of interests to the country, County and communities that could help policy makers take actions.

The stations expected to benefit from the Senator’s donation are Voice of Lofa, Radio Kintoma and Radio Wologizi- all of Voinjama City. Others are Radio Life and AYR of Zorzor city while Makona Radio, Diompior and Tambataikor are all Foya-based stations. The rest are Kolahun’s Radio Harleyngee and Vahun’s Radio Vahun respectively.

According to Senator Cyrus, the promised motorbikes are scheduled to be officially presented at an elaborate ceremony on or before the 15th of January 2025.
