Monrovia, Liberia-February 09, 2025-Fouta Corporation (FCC), Liberia largest indigenous export and import trading company, has officially turnover three unites houses to retire employees of the company.

The three beneficiaries were awarded one unit each after serving the institution for over twenty and twenty-five years, and reached the Labor Law retirement age of six five and seventy respectively.

The beneficiaries are Bondca M. Bar-Sale Executive, Charles Bonnie who is deceased and Alfred Sekou Cook.

The retirees received the keys and Deeds of the houses which were constructed by the Fouta Cooperation as a way of appreciating them for the services rendered to the company for the years.

The three apartments constructed include two bedrooms, one bathroom a kitchen back and front porches and living rooms, solar panel and also LEC are contained in a separate fence in upper Caldwell Township, New Redemption Community.

Hamidou Gnan who is the Founder and Managing Director of Fouta; and Mohammed Sow who is the President and Executive Director of Fouta as well as other executives and employees graced the turning over ceremony to the beneficiaries and their families.

Elhadj Mohammed B. Sow discusses with one of the retirees during the event.

Providing updates on the housing projects which was dedicated by the President and Executive Director of the Fouta Cooperation, Mohammed B. Sow; he said it was the company way of appreciating people who had served the company by giving their all and it is only fair to sort of reward them especially this time that when they are leaving. “They should be happy to go leave with tears of joy in their eyes,” he concluded.

According to him, this was not  the first time that the company had done such housing projects and turnover keys to her employees ; a trend he indicated that they are committed to continue doing .

The Fouta Corporation Boss added “It is very bad when individuals worked for companies all their life and when they reach the age of retirement, there is nothing to show except the little money given to them by National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) plus the little package some companies give them.”

Hence ,Mr. Sow concluded that as part of Fouta Corporation’s corporate social responsibility (CSR), they had acquired a portion of land that are indeed for the construction of housing units for their employees when they reach their pension age .

“It’s good to honor people in a dignified manner whenever they had served and this will add value to the institution and the Nation as a hole.”

He rhetorically said, “How will the company feel when people who help in making the work of the institution effective and efficient leave the company and they are thinking about rent issues based on that background, Fouta Corporation started this process and in the coming years the company is going to do many of these,” he added.

Ribbon being cut on one of the three units constructed for retirees as Mr. John Davies; an executive of Fouta and others look-on.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries Bondca M. Bar, former Sale Executive said they never saw this coming since they started working for the company and they are forever grateful to the management for putting smiles on their faces at this critical time in their life.

He said what the company had done it something that will live with them for their rest of their life even and called on other employees to work hard in order to reach the pension age too.

Bar said as a Liberian  it’s always good to be patient, honest and self-control whenever you are working for a company  not only the Fouta Corporation, but other company and should be disciplined all of the time as these are some of the attributes for which they are smiling  today he concluded.

“Words are inadequate to express to the company for such gesture and there so many reasons for us to celebrate this milestones gift and this will carry us a very long way in our life while we are out of the employed of the company”.

The event itself was quite colorful and characterized by pomp cum pageantry. Beneficiaries with their families and friends as well as neighbors –all were in joyous mood with music bellowing in the air in Caldwell.

Meanwhile, the Fouta Corporation (“Fouta”) was established in 1995 as a trading company in Liberia and is engaged in the importation and distribution of rice, steel, building materials and bagged cement.  The cement is imported under the “Goltas” brand with which Fouta has a licensing agreement. Fouta have recently established a subsidiary, the Fouta Cement Corporation (“Fouta Cement” or “the Company”), to develop and operate a 50 tons per hour (equivalent to ~300,000 tons per year  cement grinding plant in Monrovia, the capital city of Liberia.
