Konia Town, Lofa County –Tuesday,May 20, 2025 – Citizens of Konia Town in Zorzor District, Lofa County are calling for speedy investigation into the mysterious disappearance of a two-year-old boy in the area. The missing child is William Fesseh.

Lorpu Tarnue, grandmother of the child told locals that little William left their home in the early hours of May 15 to play with his friends in a nearby section of the community but was later announced to have gone missing.

Madam Tarnue said the child has earlier insisted to go with his peers on a nearby farm a request she said she disapproved.

But Yassah Taylor, the girl who reportedly took William to the farm claimed the grandmother of the child allegedly granted permission for the child to go with her on their farm. Lorpu has however denied Yassah’s assertion.

Yassah further explained that upon arrival at the farm, she left William and friends at the kitchen to fetch drinking water from a a nearby creek, about 15 minutes away.

She told investigators that upon her return from the creek, she was informed by one of the children present that William followed her at the creek. It was later observed that the child did not reach to the creek where Yassah has gone to fetch water.

It is reported that an immediate search was launched for the child, but in vain.

Efforts and inquiries made in nearby areas and bushes proved fruitless as the child remains missing.

The alarming incident has triggered widespread outrage among residents. Tensions escalated rapidly, with angry citizens staging roadblocks and restricting movement throughout the region to express their frustration and demand swift action.

It took the intervention of the Liberia National Police to calm the situation and reopen the roads. As of the time of this report, little William Fesseh has not been found. Both the police and local volunteers are actively searching surrounding forests and farmlands.

The disappearance of little William has raised concerns about the safety of children and proper supervision in rural communities increasing calls for urgent government’s intervention.

Citizens are appealing to national authorities, including the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, to deploy additional resources in the ongoing search and ensure a full-scale investigation.

A cloud of fear and uncertainty has gripped residents of Konia Town in the Zorzor administrative district following the mysterious disappearance of a two-year-old boy.

The public has been urged to contact the nearest police station if anyone gets information about the whereabouts of the missing child.

Investigation continues in the search of little William Fesseh.
