Zwedru City, Grand Gedeh County —Wednesday, October 1, 2025-Local authorities in Grand Gedeh County officially dedicated a rehabilitated bridge project in Zwedru City on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

The restoration of the vital passage, which cost USD $18,500.00, comes after the structure was heavily damaged by torrential rains, severely impeding movement across the city for over ten months.

The original bridge was constructed during the administration of former Liberian President Samuel K. Doe to ensure easy access and free movement for both citizens and vehicles. Its damage had created significant hardship within the city limits.

Senator Thomas Yaya Nimely and other diginateries as he cuts the ribbon on the rehabilitated bridge.

The dedication ceremony was well-attended by numerous officials and community leaders, including Senator Thomas Yaya Nimely, local officials, marketers, the head of cyclists, and prominent citizens.

Speaking on behalf of County Superintendent Hon. Alex Chersia Grant, Assistant Superintendent for Development Davison Barlee, expressed gratitude for the “Collaboration and unity” demonstrated by the community during the reconstruction process.

He took the opportunity to call on all Grand Gedeians to continue working together for the county’s future growth and development.

Meanwhile, Senator Thomas Yaya Nimely, who also serves as the Grand Gedeh County Caucus Chair, used his remarks to caution citizens against excessive criticism, urging them instead to focus their energy on developing the county.

“People always saying Senator Nimely is too critical, yes is true I’m critical but constructively critical because I want my county to develop like other areas,” the Senator stated. He concluded by making a strong appeal for everyone to set aside their differences and commit to the collective development of Grand Gedeh.

The restored bridge is expected to immediately ease traffic flow and pedestrian movement in and around Zwedru.
