River Gee County | April 24, 2026 | A team of specialist ear, nose, and throat – ENT physicians, known as otolaryngologists, working under the Non-Communicable Diseases and Injuries – NCDI, program of the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the County Health Team, has launched a two-day free medical outreach.
The initiative officially commenced Thursday in Fish-Town, the county capital, is fully sponsored by Sen. Francis Saidy Dopoh II of River Gee County.
The outreach is designed to address the growing demand for specialized ear, nose and throat – ENT care, particularly for residents who have limited or no access to such services.
Otolaryngologists are trained to diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions affecting the ear, nose, and throat, including hearing loss, chronic ear infections, sinus issues, and balance disorders.
Through this program, residents of Fish-Town and surrounding communities are receiving free consultations, treatment, and preventive screenings.
Following its launch in Fish-Town, the outreach will continue in Kanweaken, within the Gbeapo statutory district, at the Gbeapo Comprehensive Health facility with services to additional communities across the county.

The initiative forms part of a broader effort by Senator Dopoh to strengthen healthcare delivery in southeastern Liberia.
Community mobilization efforts led by James a resident of Fish-Town, A. Griffiths, included early morning door-to-door and street-level awareness campaigns encouraging residents to take advantage of the free services.
Griffiths stressed that all costs associated with the outreach have been fully covered by the senator, eliminating financial barriers for residents.
He also mentioned the importance of preventive healthcare, urging individuals even those without symptoms, to undergo screening for early detection of potential health conditions.
Initial turnout has been strong, reflecting both the demand for specialized care and the community’s enthusiasm as discussions are already underway to expand the initiative in a second phase to nearby districts, including Sarbo.
Speaking to reporters, Abraham Zahn, head of the medical team, confirmed that the outreach is being conducted by qualified specialists capable of managing a wide range of ENT conditions.
He noted that the team will remain in southeastern Liberia for two days before continuing similar outreach efforts in Montserrado County.
Residents and local health authorities have widely welcomed the program, describing it as both timely and impactful.
Many expressed hope that such initiatives will be sustained and expanded, marking a significant step toward improving healthcare access and overall community well-being in River Gee County.
Beneficiaries of the outreach have also praised the initiative, extending gratitude to Senator Dopoh for what they describe as a meaningful intervention in the county’s healthcare system.
