Grand Kru County | January 14, 2025 |The Liberia National Police has charged and forwarded to court Bobbyson Bobby, a 26-year-old power saw operator, in connection with the murder of Rose Tarty, a 34-year-old woman whose body was discovered in the Chengbetee Forest, Dorbor District, Grand Kru County.
According to a police investigative report, the incident was first reported on December 15, 2025, by Patrolman Prince J. Zarweah, Commander of Bolor District, after the victim was reported missing by community members.
According to police, a search was immediately launched in the forest where she was last seen.
Later the same day, the lifeless body of Rose Tarty was discovered lying on her back in the forest.
She was found wearing a black bra and a brown sleeveless blouse, with a wooden-handle knife discovered near the scene.
The victim was examined by medical practitioner T. Tokpa Simmon, who pronounced her dead.
Police investigations revealed that the accused had fled the crime scene to Nimba County following the incident, and was later arrested and brought back to Grand Kru County for questioning.
During police interrogation, Bobbyson Bobby reportedly confessed to the crime.
He told investigators that on the day of the incident, he encountered the victim in the forest while heading to his worksite to saw planks.
According to the accused, the victim said she had gone to his worksite to purchase planks but did not find anyone there.
The accused further stated that he requested LD$100 from the victim to buy liquor, but she refused.
He claimed that when he attempted to take the money in what he described as a joking manner, the victim pulled away, fell to the ground, began bleeding from her nose, and became unconscious.
Fearing the consequences, he allegedly dragged her body from the roadside into the forest and hid it.
Based on the confession and physical evidence gathered, police charged Bobbyson Bobby with murder and forwarded him to court to answer to the charges in line with Liberian law.
Authorities say the case is now before the court, as investigations have been concluded.
