Grand Kru County, Liberia –Wednesday, October 1, 2025-At the leadership induction ceremony for faculty at Grand Kru Technical College, keynote speaker Maxmixon Tokpah emphasized the fundamental role agriculture plays in Liberia’s economy and in the lives of its citizens.
He stated that agriculture is not only “the backbone of a country’s economy” but also serves as “the heartbeat of survival” for many Liberians; highlighting its critical importance in feeding the nation and supporting various industries.
Tokpah referred to the induction ceremony as a pivotal moment for reflection and renewal, emphasizing the collective effort required from leaders in education and the community to cultivate a more robust and sustainable future.
He articulated that while agriculture should be guided by intellect and effort, it should equally resonate with passion and compassion.
Keynote Speaker Maxmixon Tokpah urged them to regard Grand Kru Technical College as a frontline institution that offers educational opportunities to a diverse range of students, including first-generation college-goers, single parents, and lifelong learners.
He underscored the importance of inclusivity and the responsibility that educators have in shaping the futures of these individuals.
Tokpah also challenged the newly elected faculty senate leadership to stay focused on their responsibilities, while extending commendations to the college’s administration and parents for their persistent support. He called for a collaborative approach among faculty and administration, advocating for policies that prioritize the interests of both students and educators.

In his address, Koffa Morris, the newly elected president of the faculty senate leadership, expressed his gratitude to both the college administration and his colleagues for entrusting him with this leadership role.
He highlighted the significance of constructive and respectful dialogue with the administration, emphasizing that the faculty senate’s goal is to tackle critical issues impacting faculty and promote students’ rights.
Morris made it clear that the faculty senate aims to improve the academic environment rather than create chaos or undermine the administration’s efforts to ensure smooth educational operations.
He recognized the dedication of faculty members, describing them as the cornerstone of the college and emphasizing their relentless commitment to advancing the institution despite the prevailing challenges.
Pledging accountability to his fellow faculty members, Morris called for a collaborative work environment focused on the collective well-being of all stakeholders involved.
He urged his colleagues to act with integrity and compassion while remaining steadfast in their mission to serve the educational needs of the community.
Koffa Morris appealed to students to exhibit exemplary moral behavior and called upon faculty senate members to unite in pursuit of their shared goals.
The newly formed faculty senate leadership team comprises Koffa S. Morris as President, Taylor Adada as Vice President, Luther Matthew Jr. as Secretary General, and Melvin Nimene as Financial Secretary.
