Paris, France — On Friday, September 5, 2025, His Excellency Dr. Teeko Tozay Yorlay, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Liberia to the French Republic, met with Mr. Erick Choucat, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Box Ozone International (EC-EFRES), to initiate discussions on enhancing infection control and medical waste management within Liberia’s healthcare system.

The engagement, held at the Embassy of the Republic of Liberia near Paris, forms part of Ambassador Yorlay’s sustained diplomatic efforts to mobilize advanced health technologies in support of Liberia’s national development priorities. Notably, this marks the second meeting of its kind within the same week, demonstrating an intensified commitment to forging partnerships that align with the Government of Liberia’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID).

During the meeting, Mr. Choucat presented a portfolio of state-of-the-art, ozone-based technologies, including two stationary treatment units capable of processing 300 kg and 500 kg of medical waste per hour. He also highlighted the company’s solar-powered mobile units, designed to serve multiple healthcare facilities, particularly in remote and underserved areas. These solutions are currently deployed in countries such as France, Senegal, Gabon, Saudi Arabia, and India.

Mr. Choucat expressed a strong interest in expanding operations to Liberia, citing the potential for significant improvements in environmental health and the creation of local employment opportunities. He extended an invitation to Ambassador Yorlay and his delegation to visit select installation sites in France, offering an opportunity to observe the technologies in operation and assess their applicability to the Liberian context.

Ambassador Yorlay welcomed the initiative and commended Mr. Choucat for his interest in supporting Liberia’s health sector. The Ambassador underscored the vital importance of efficient and sustainable medical waste management systems in enhancing public health outcomes. He further expressed Liberia’s openness to exploring a structured partnership and encouraged Mr. Choucat to undertake a visit to Liberia to engage directly with relevant government institutions, healthcare stakeholders, and technical experts.

Both parties agreed to continue consultations, including the conduct of feasibility assessments, which could inform the development and submission of a comprehensive proposal for formal consideration by the Government of Liberia.
