River Gee County | March 29, 2026 | The Legislative Assembly of the Association of River Gee Youth – ARGY, under the leadership of Speaker Charles J.B. Allison, has officially reinstated its former President, P. Natu Weadatu, following weeks of internal dispute and intensive mediation efforts involving key youth stakeholders.
The decision was reached during a decisive session held on Saturday at the Youth Center in Fish-Town, where members of the Assembly unanimously voted in favor of Weadatu’s return.
The move marks a significant step toward restoring unity, stability, and institutional continuity within River Gee County’s leading youth organization.
Mediation and Stakeholder Engagement
Weadatu’s reinstatement comes after a series of high-level engagements facilitated by the Federation of Liberian Youth and the Ministry of Youth and Sports- MYS.
Delivering goodwill messages, FLY Vice President for National Affairs, Jeremiah B. Wilson, and River Gee County Youth and Sports Coordinator, Anthony Fannayah Saytue, commended the Assembly for choosing dialogue over division.
Both officials urged stakeholders to move forward in unity and focus on advancing youth empowerment initiatives across the county.
In his address, Speaker Allison stressed the importance of accountability and outlined key expectations for the reinstated president.
He called on Weadatu to demonstrate renewed commitment, transparency, and responsiveness to the concerns of young people.
The Speaker further emphasized the need to strengthen institutional performance and promote inclusiveness within ARGY, noting that leadership must reflect the aspirations of the broader youth population.
Weadatu Apologizes, Pledges Reform
In his acceptance speech, President Weadatu expressed regret over the events that led to his impeachment earlier in March.
He acknowledged shortcomings in communication and leadership and issued a formal apology to the Legislative Assembly and the youth of River Gee County.
He pledged to respect the Assembly’s directives, rebuild trust, and work collaboratively to foster unity while advancing youth-centered development programs.
The leadership crisis began in early March when Weadatu was impeached by the Assembly over allegations of administrative and financial irregularities.
Concerns included issues related to multiple accounts and failure to respond to repeated official communications.
Following the impeachment, Vice President Francis Badio assumed leadership in an acting capacity.
The Assembly has confirmed that formal communications regarding the reinstatement will be sent to all institutions and stakeholders previously informed of the impeachment.
With this resolution, ARGY appears to have turned a critical corner, reaffirming its commitment to peace, institutional integrity, and the collective advancement of young people in River Gee County.
