Barclayville City, Grand Kru County |Feb. 26,2026| A potential disaster was averted on Thursday, February 26, 2026, when residents of Barclayville acted swiftly to stop a raging fire from consuming a shop owned by local businessman Daniel Wesseh.

The blaze erupted in a nearby structure at about 8:50 a.m., quickly threatening neighboring properties. Eyewitnesses reported that panic swept through the area, but residents did not hesitate to respond.

Men, women, and even young people rushed to the scene with buckets of water, sand, and whatever tools were available and they could laid their hands on.

Together, they formed a human chain, battling the flames and preventing further spread.

Fortunately, the only affected structure by the raging inferno.

After about forty minutes of intense effort, the fire was finally contained at roughly 9:30 a.m. While one structure, belonging to an unidentified individual, was completely destroyed, the community’s prompt action ensured that Mr. Wesseh’s shop and other nearby properties were spared from destruction.

Witnesses described the scene as a demonstration of courage, teamwork and solidarity — neighbors working hand in hand, motivated by a shared understanding that one person’s crisis affects the whole community.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire and are expected to conduct a thorough investigation.

For the residents of Barclayville, however, the incident highlights more than just loss — it is a testament to resilience, unity, and the power of a community that refuses to watch helplessly in the face of disaster.
