Tubmanburg, Bomi County– Thursday, November 27, 2025– Bomi County is beginning to feel the pulse of decentralization and it’s beating stronger than ever. In a development many see as a turning point for local governance, the Bomi County Service Center has reported almost two million Liberian dollars generated in under half a year.

The news, delivered with pride and optimism by Service Center Director Rev. Tarweh Johnson, signals more than just numbers on paper. It reflects a growing confidence in local authority, an improving tax culture, and a county ready to take charge of its development future.

According to Rev. Johnson, the center has amassed L$1,972,438, supplemented by US$1,460, all collected through revenue channels supervised under the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA). He described the feat as a bold step toward strengthening the county’s autonomy, especially under the decentralization mandate of the Local Government Act of 2018.

“This achievement highlights the trust our people now place in their county structures,” Rev. Johnson said, noting that the rising compliance rate demonstrates a renewed willingness among citizens and institutions to support county-led development.

But Bomi is just getting started

Rev. Johnson revealed that his office will roll out an intensified strategy aimed at pushing revenue even higher in the coming months. Part of this plan includes deeper collaboration with ministries, agencies, and commissions operating in the county – as well as a vigorous public awareness campaign to educate communities on why paying taxes matters.

He stressed that strengthening public understanding of revenue obligations will remain a top priority, as improved payment culture directly translates to better services, independent development, and a county less reliant on central interventions.

Grateful yet determined, Rev. Johnson thanked the citizens of Bomi for their cooperation so far and encouraged them to stay engaged.

“We are building something together. The more we contribute, the more Bomi grows,” he reminded residents.

With momentum rising and confidence building, Bomi County appears poised for an even more productive year ahead – one where local leadership is not just talking development, but financing it.
