Bopolu City, Gbarpolu – Five former and current Gbarpolu County officials have been indicted in connection with $425,000 procurement linked to three “Yellow Machines.”
The individuals named are former Superintendent J. Keyah Saah, current Superintendent Sam K. Zinnah, former Project Management Committee (PMC) Chairman Robert Benda, former Fiscal Affairs Superintendent Anthony Yorkor, and Omaru Sheriff, CEO of City Lion.
The grand jury indictment was drawn on August 14, 2025, at the Sixteen Judicial Circuit Court in Bopolu City.
The charges include Economic Sabotage, illegal compensation for government matters, theft of property, criminal facilitation, criminal conspiracy, violation of PPCC and PFM laws, criminal solicitation, and tax invasion under Liberia’s New Panel Law (Title 26).
Background: On July 1, 2025, the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission LACC announced travel restrictions on these individuals as part of the ongoing probe into the procurement and transfer of the three machines, which were purchased for $425,000 by the previous county administration.
The restrictions remain in force to prevent flight while investigations proceed.
Note that funds for three earth-moving equipment—the bulldozer, excavator, and motor grader, were approved at the 2023 county council meeting in Bopolu City to enhance road work across the county.
However, since the machines were brought into Bopolu City, they have been described by several as old and have remained idle for almost a year, to the disadvantage of the people of Gbarpolu who invested close to a million of Gbarpolu County and Society Development Funds.
This is an evolving developing story. Thus we will keep updating up to the point of finality.
