Commerce Minister Commends NaFAA for Remarkable Progress during Working Visit…

Montserrado County, Monrovia – January 23, 2025- The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Hon. Magdalene Dagoseh, paid a working visit to the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA) to assess its operations and engage with its leadership.

This visit, part of her oversight responsibilities as a member of the NaFAA Board, provided an opportunity for the minister to observe the progress being made within the institution under the leadership of its Director General, Hon. Emma Metieh Glassco.

During the visit, Minister Dagoseh toured NaFAA’s facilities and commended the significant advancements achieved in the fisheries sector. She expressed her admiration for the improved working environment, the state-of-the-art laboratory, and modern equipment introduced under Madam Glassco’s administration.

The highlight of the tour was a discussion about NaFAA’s soon-to-be-constructed modern headquarters, which is expected to further enhance the institution’s operational efficiency. The Commerce Minister described the ongoing developments at NaFAA as a testament to dedicated service to the nation and lauded Madam Glassco and her team for their tireless efforts in transforming the sector.

“This level of work and commitment demonstrates true patriotism,” Minister Dagoseh remarked. “I am impressed by the progress made at NaFAA and the innovation driving this critical sector. As a board member, I am committed to ensuring that the institution receives the necessary support to sustain and expand these achievements.”

Madam Glassco, in response, expressed gratitude for the minister’s visit and reaffirmed NaFAA’s commitment to driving the sustainable development of Liberia’s fisheries and aquaculture sector.

The National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority has been a key player in Liberia’s economic diversification agenda, contributing to food security, job creation, and revenue generation. Under Madam Glassco’s leadership, the authority continues to implement transformative projects that align with national and global goals for sustainable fisheries management and aquaculture administration.

That said, Hon. Dagoseh’s visit underscores the government’s commitment to fostering inter-agency collaboration and providing oversight to ensure the effective delivery of public good and services.
