“This was previously called, Drugs Revolving Fund I started at the Kolahun Hospital when I was here, but under the Minister of Health of the Republic of Liberia; now called the Community pharmacy” Dr. Raphael Shamavu said in an interview.

According to him, this new program will be in all of Liberia’s (15) counties, and therefore they are doing community engagements to get more recommendations from community members about how the Community Pharmacy program will effectively work and deliver.

“As I speak to you we visited Lofa County, Vahun District, Foya District, Kolahun District, Voinjama District, Quardu Gboni District, Zorzor District, and Salayea District conducting Community meetings with Health workers and local leaders about this initiative and trust you, we are getting the support from the community, and very soon this project will start across Liberia ” Dr. Raphael Shamavu, the head of the team from the Ministry of Health Republic of Liberia disclosed in an exclusive Interview.

He added the initiative when completed; it will help patients to get drugs at the health facilities or Hospital at a minimum cost instead of going to buy from private medicine store.

Dr. Raphael Shamavu who traveled with eight members of his team from the Ministry of health including Assistant Minister of Administration explained that they visited seven (7) of Liberia (15) fifteen Counties and got good responses from community members and local leadership about the support for Community Pharmacy.

“Very soon we will start this project through the Support of Liberia President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, and Liberia Minister of Health Dr. Jallah, this initiative will help to stop people from buying fake medicine from the street” Dr. Raphael Shamavu disclosed.

Dr. Raphael Shamavu is a trained medical Doctor who introduced the Drugs Revolving Fun  at the Kolahun Hospital which was intended to help patients get good drugs at the Hospital and pay small money to replace the medicine.
