Grand Kru County, Liberia – Thursday, October 2, 2025-The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has embarked on an awareness campaign targeting several pressing environmental issues, with a particular focus on the challenges posed by building construction and mining operations across Grand Kru County.

EPA representatives, including Isaac Weah, Timothy Mah Jeh, and Abednego Blay, have been assigned to the County to spearhead this initiative, assuring local residents of their unwavering commitment to effectively address environmental concerns impacting the County.

During a special radio segment broadcasted to residents on Ahteenah Radio, the EPA officials pledged, “We will leave no stone unturned in upholding the laws of the Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia.”

Their message underscored the importance of community involvement as they urged the people of Grand Kru County to collaborate with the EPA to protect their local resources and promote sustainable development.

They stressed the urgent need for the reclamation of abandoned mining pits in Grand Kru County.

The EPA office pointed out the substantial risks these unregulated sites pose to mining-affected communities, emphasizing that restoring these environments is critical for public safety and ecological health.

In a separate statement to Ahteenah Radio, the officials expressed their gratitude to the community for the support and cooperation shown thus far. “We are motivated to tackle the ongoing environmental challenges in Grand Kru County, and your partnership is essential in this quest,” they remarked.

According to them, the EPA concerted outreach efforts are designed to enhance public awareness regarding responsible mining and construction practices while fostering a culture of environmental stewardship among local residents.

They cited that EPA aims to safeguard the environment and promote the sustainable use of natural resources in Grand Kru County for future generations.
