SINOE – A famous fisherman, Jackson Tweh Gba alias Peakie, has gone missing in Sinoe County, Rural Reporters News Network (RRNN) has gathered.
Peakie, who left for a fishing expedition since the early morning hours of Thursday, 17 October 2024, is yet to return and has not been seen by any member of the Seebeh Community, where he resides in Sinoe County.
Some fishmongers, who are customers of the missing fisherman, raised alarm recently, informing Seebeh Community Sectional Chief, William Wleh Nimely that Peakie has not returned since he was last seen leaving on a fishing expedition Thursday, 17 October.
Upon hearing the fishmongers’ narration, Sectional Chief Nimely, the next day, dispatched a machine canoe including all fishermen in the area on a search and rescue mission on the Atlantic Ocean for their missing colleague.
RRNN has learned that the missing fisherman’s canoe has been discovered, but there is no trace of him since Thursday, 17 October.
Meanwhile, Chief Nimely has alerted the National Fishery and Aquiculture Authority County Coordinator in Sinoe, Andrew Boe Doe about the situation regarding the missing famous fisherman, with Doe also reporting the incident to the Liberia National Police (LNP) detachment in Greenville, Sinoe County.
At the time of this report, the search for Peakie was continuing, while the LNP Crimes Services Division was interrogating family members of the missing man.
