Lofa County [March 19, 2025] – Fresh report from Lofa County speaks of the confiscation of huge quantity of illicit drugs in Foya by the joint security in the area.
Substances arrested by the joint security are 772 plates of high-grade Marijuana and eight boxes of Tramadol.

Lofa County’s LDEA commander put the estimated street value of the Marijuana at US$77,200 or L$14,668,000 LRD) fourteen million, six hundred sixty-eight thousand Liberian Dollars.
The eight boxes of Tramadol have an estimated street value to be eight hundred forty-two United States Dollars (US$842).
According to a local journalist in the county, the arrest of the dangerous substances was made after a tip-off by members of the joint security assigned there.
The Foya-joint security led by the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency said it was informed that a pickup truck with Liberian license plate A533348 was transporting narcotics to Monrovia from Sierra Leone. The vehicle was reportedly traveling from Sierra Leone to Monrovia through Lofa County when it was stopped for thorough security check and was later found loaded with the illicit drugs.

The driver of the vehicle is identified as Fayiah Lamie. The 43 years old man who is a resident of Monrovia, initially claimed he was transporting clothes and slippers for sale.
Suspect Fayiah Lamie was immediately arrested and is currently undergoing investigation. He is expected to be formally charged and sent to court.

Meanwhile, the joint security in Foya is calling on the public to help provide information about illegal drugs activities in the area.
LDEA commander Kpehe Lomax is calling on central government to help the county with mobility as they are struggling to get to hard to reach places.
“We sometimes rent motorcycles just to get behind drug dealers, and drug people, because there is no mobility,”Lomax said.
The fight against drugs in Liberia remains a major challenge to central government, especially the porosity of the country’s borders.
