Bopolu City, Gbarpolu County |Feb. 11, 2026| Citizens of Gbarpolu County are calling on the judicial branch to speed up trials on the docket in Gbarpolu County.
They spoke at the February A D. court term opening on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Sixteen Judicial Circuit Court in Bopolu City.
There are 19 criminal cases on the docket, including the high-profile Yellow Machines case involving current Gbarpolu County Superintendent Sam K. Zinnah, former Superintendent J. Keyah Saah, former Fiscal Affairs Superintendent Anthony Yorkor, Former Project Management Committee (PMC) Chairman Robert Benda, and CEO of City Lion Omoru Sheriff.
Additionally, 3 civil cases are on the February Term docket, including a lawsuit filed against the Gbarpolu County Administration for specific performance by Wologizi Group of Company, a company that was contracted to build the Zuie Clinic in Kongba District.
During the opening, the assigned presiding Judge His Honored Cllr. T. Ciapha Carey used the event to call for working together to enhance the justice system. He said the only way the court can work effectively is through collaboration from all angles.
In response to his charge, County Attorney Cllr. Arthur Washington pledged that the Justice Ministry will continue its cmmitment to enhance the justice system.
Meanwhile, Senator Botoe Kanneh and the head of the CSO Lydia Ballah used the event to call for speedy trials of cases on the docket. The Senator also urged the judiciary to help establish a Magisterial Court in Belle, Bokomu, Guo Nwolailai Districts and to construct a modern court building in Kongba District.
Also speaking at the event, Associate Justice Cllr. Boakai N. Kanneh said that as a member of the Supreme Court Bench, he has oversight supervision over Cape Mount, Gbarpolu, and Bomi Counties.
He said he was happy to be part of the court opening and thanked the local bar for honoring him. He used the occasion to call for unity and respect for the rule of law.
Associate Justice Cllr. Boakai Kanneh and other members of the Gbarpolu Local Bar, including the President of the National Bar Association of Liberia Cllr. Bornor M. Varmah, Assistant Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Justice Atty. Edrick F. Noah, and other Gbarpolu Local Bar members were in attendance.
Also attending were Gbarpolu County Senator and Legislative Caucus Chairperson Senator Botoe Kanneh and officials including Gbarpolu County Administrative Officer James Kpoto Scott.
Mr. Scott also called for the establishment of Magisterial Courts in Belle, Bokomu, and Guo Nwolailai Districts to help reduce cases on the docket by handling minor matters at the district level.
Meanwhile, during the event, the Gbarpolu Local Bar honored Associate Justice Cllr. Boakai N. Kanneh for his Supreme Court appointment by President Joseph Boakai. Cllr. Kanneh previously chaired Liberia’s Law Reform Commission.
