Bopolu City, Gbarpolu County –Sunday, Dec 7, 2025 – The Gbarpolu County Council has approved additional funds exceeding $26,000 to get the Gbarpolu County Sports Stadium ready to host Group D matches in the National County Sports Meet.
Gbarpolu is set to face Montserrado on December 14 and Bong on December 17, 2025, in Bopolu City.
The contractor, Global Group of Companies, had requested extra funding to complete key aspects, including dressing rooms.

In an interview on December 6, 2025, CEO George Dorbor pledged to meet the December 14 deadline despite initial funding concerns. With the funds approved, work on the stadium is accelerating.
The total Gbarpolu County Sports Stadium project cost is $446,180.35, with $177,872.60 spent so far, including the initial $150,000 approved for the project.
Note that this project is being funded by the people of Gbarpolu through the County and Social Development Fund.
The Council is confident, citing the completion of the outer and inner fence and the main field layout, measuring 104 feet by 66 feet. Gbarpolu is ready to host!
Post-event, the contractor will continue working on the project to ensure a modern VIP section with dressing rooms and other requirements as requested by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
