    Government Breaks ground for School Expansion In Barkedu Town

    Barkedu Town, Quardu Gboni | January 12, 2025|Education Minister Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah over the weekend broke ground for the expansion of a Junior High to a modern Senior High School in Barkedu Town, Quardu Bondi Administrative district.

    During the ground breaking ceremony, Minister Jarso Maley Jallah said, the expansion of the Junior high School in Barkedu Town is the Government of Liberia initiative in enhancing quality education for students in Lofa, particularly in Quardu Gboni District.

    “As we break ground today for the expansion of this school in Barkedu, it’s our hope that our school going children will take advantage of the facility and students in Barkedu will remain here and complete High School. We will deploy qualified teachers in this school to teach your children as part of the Government agenda to Rescue Liberia,” Minister Jarso Maley mentioned during the ground breaking ceremony.

    Education Minister,Dr. Jarso Maley participates in bricklaying activity surronded by Officials of government in Sarkonnedu,Quardu Gboni District.

    For his part, Lofa County Education Officer, John S. Sallay promised the people of Barkedu Town that additional trained and qualified teachers will be sent to teach in the School when completed.

    “Madam Minister, we are no longer challenge with the issues of qualified teachers, as I speak to you, more than 200 volunteer teachers were placed on Government payroll just recently under our regime, so those who were placed on Government payroll will soon be deployed in the various schools in Lofa County,” Lofa County Education Officer John S. Sallay openly said at the ground breaking ceremony.

    The expanded construction is expected to last for nearly three months and since 1964, this is the first time, the Government of Liberia is breaking ground for the construction of the first modern high schools in Quardu Gboni District.

    As indicated by Authority of the Ministry of Education, this government-funded project will restore hope and secure a future for present and future generations. In both Barkedu and Sarkonnedu,the schools will be equipped with modern facilities, solar power, water systems, and libraries.This will be followed by the construction of a TVET center in Samodou and a modern community radio station.
