Grand Gedeh County, Liberia~Tuesday, October 7, 2025~ Grand Gedeh County joined the rest of Liberia yesterday, October 6, 2025, in marking National World Teachers’ Day. The celebration, held at the Zwedru Multilateral High School Auditorium, honored the county’s educators under the theme: “Together for Teachers, Tomorrow for Teachers.”

The event served as a tribute to teachers’ tireless efforts in molding the nation’s future. Rev. Ce-Wulu Nyenow, President of the National Teachers Association of Liberia (NTAL) Grand Gedeh Chapter, commended teachers for their unwavering resilience and unity despite persistent challenges within the sector. Rev. Nyenow also called for enhanced collaboration to uplift Liberia’s education system. The ceremony included a solemn moment of silence in remembrance of three late teachers from Putu District.

The keynote speaker, County Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elijah Freeman, underscored the critical role of the profession, stating that “teaching is the profession that creates all other professions.” He stressed that investing in teachers today is an investment in a stronger Liberia tomorrow.

Furthermore, the NTAL used the occasion to encourage educators to enroll in its newly highlighted savings and loan program; an initiative designed to bolster the financial stability of teachers.

As the celebration drew to a close, participating teachers and educational stakeholders reaffirmed their collective commitment to advancing the cause of quality education across Grand Gedeh County and the nation as a whole.

Meanwhile, it is good to highlight the significance of the World Teachers’ Day 2025 event which focused on the global theme “Recasting teaching as a collaborative profession,” emphasizing the need for greater collaboration to support teachers, foster educational transformation, and address global teacher shortages. Celebrations highlighted the vital, often isolating, work of teachers while promoting shared responsibility, mutual support, and joint ventures between educators, schools, and communities to build better education systems for all, including a major event in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
