Monrovia, Liberia-Monday, September 15, 2025-Grand Kru County Electoral District number two Representative, Cllr Jonathan Fonati Koffa has expressed concerns regarding Golden Veroleum Liberia, an Oil palm plantation company operating in Grand Kru County failure to address tuition payment delayed for students participating in its scholarship program.
The Grand Kru County lawmaker highlighted the detrimental effects these delays have had on Grand Kru students currently enrolled in universities across the country.
Cllr Koffa stated that his office has received numerous complaints from students and their leaders over GVL’s failure to meet its scholarship commitments.

He expressed relief at GVL’s commitment, emphasizing the critical nature of timely compliance with corporate social responsibility obligations, especially those that influence the education and future prospects of the youth in Grand Kru.
The District # 2 lawmaker also cautioned GVL against engaging the citizens of District #2 in conversations regarding any potential extension of the company’s concession in Nehroh, Jloh Statutory District without prior consultation with his office.
According to representative Koffa, such actions could undermine the authority of the duly elected district representative and called for proper and transparent engagement moving forward.
In response to the outcry, Golden Veroleum management assured Rep. Koffa that they are actively working to reconcile the scholarship list, which includes 53 students as submitted by the chairman of the county’s legislative caucus.
The company confirmed that by Tuesday, September 16, 2025, all respective universities would receive official communication verifying the scholarship payments, enabling students to continue their studies without further hindrance.
Meanwhile, the Grand Kru County Electoral District number two Representative firm stance underlines not only the importance of corporate accountability, but also the necessity for collaboration between companies and local representatives to secure the welfare of the communities they serve.
