Barclayville, Grand Kru County–Tuesday, August 26, 2025-The Liberia National Police (LNP) Grand Kru County Detachment has arrested three individuals in connection with smuggling illegal arms and narcotics.

The crackdown followed intelligence received from local citizens regarding suspicious activities in the area.

On August 18, 2025, the LNP’s intelligence officer was alerted by concerned residents of Barclayville who claimed that some members of the community were involved in the illicit trade of contraband, including single barrel guns, cartridges, and dangerous drugs such as marijuana, tobacco products banned for sale in Liberia.

According to sources closed to the Police, following up on this vital information, the LNP launched an immediate investigation.

Sources are quoted as saying; on August 19, a team from the Grand Kru detachment approached the suspects, who were allegedly identified by the local informants. During this operation, officers discovered over 200 single barrel cartridges and a carton of prohibited tobacco in the suspects’ possession.

Eyewitnesses indicated that the items were promptly confiscated and taken to the police station for a preliminary investigation.

The operation escalated when, on August 20, 2025, a search and seizure warrant was granted by the 15th Judicial Circuit Magisterial Court.

Sheriffs of the court, supported by LNP officers, executed the warrant, leading to a deeper investigation into the suspects’ residences.

The search of Beatrice Koffa’s home, a 41-year-old Grebo woman residing in Barclayville, revealed four compressed plates of marijuana and eighteen packs of rolling paper (rizlas).

Meanwhile, the property of another suspect, Henry Nimeyou, 39, and his wife, Cheadee Snoh, also yielded a staggering cache: a blue barrel containing 3,530 single barrel cartridges and one million Liberian dollars in cash.
