Wedabo Chiefdom, Grand Kru County |April 23, 2026| A collision between a Golden Veroleum Liberia (GVL) tractor and a local motorcyclist, Wilson Toe Toe of Wedabo Gbanken, has reignited concerns over corporate road safety practices in southeastern Liberia.

The accident occurred along the Big Swah Ylatwen–Gbanken corridor, a key route linking communities within Grand Cess and Wedabo Statutory District.

The road, though heavily relied upon by residents, is increasingly shared with large agricultural machinery operated by GVL.

There has been no official statement from GVL regarding the incident, and the condition of the motorcyclist remains unclear.

Meanwhile, pressure is mounting on both local authorities and the company to address what many see as a preventable risk.

The incident adds to a growing narrative in the GVL concession-affected areas, where development and local safety concerns continue to collide.

Meanwhile, it can be recalled that motor related accidents across the country since the beginning of 2026, road accidents have increased significantly in the first quarter of 2026, with 71 deaths and 478 total crashes recorded between January and March. These figures indicate that the fatality rate is trending higher than in 2025.
