Gbarpolu County—November 27, 2025—In Henry Town, the silence is loud. With no community radio station to depend on, residents say they are cut off from vital information – and now they’re calling for a voice powerful enough to reach every home, every village, and every mind across the Koninga Chiefdom.

Leading the appeal is Mr. Varney Johnson, District Clerk in the Office of the Commissioner, who believes a community radio station is not just desirable; it is urgently necessary.

Speaking to Rural Reporters News Network, Johnson said the lack of a radio platform continues to leave people uninformed about government activities, development projects, and private sector initiatives that directly affect their lives. He described access to credible news as a basic resource the town has gone without for too long.

“Without accurate, balance and credible information,” Johnson warned, “people are left to believe anything they hear – even rumors.”

He is now calling on government authorities, development partners, and local stakeholders to support the establishment of a community radio station – one he hopes will serve as an information lifeline for Henry Town and its surrounding settlements.

Residents say what they need is simple: A channel they can trust. A frequency that connects. A voice that informs without distortion.

For now, Henry Town waits – hopeful that soon, its silence will finally be broken by the sound of its own story being told.
