Kuyon Town, Bong County-In the remote village of Kuyon in Bong County, eleven years old Jeremiah Mulbah sits idly. Behind him is a dilapidated mud house, portraying the condition of the community and the people that live there.
On his regular reportorial duty, Rural Reporters News Network (RRNN), Jangar Boimah Johnson is attracted to what seems to be appalling appearance of little Jeremiah Mulbah found roaming the quite village of Kuyon.
“I have never been to school; I want to go to school if someone can help me” is the second statement issued by little Mulbah in response to RRNN Jangar Boimah Johnson’s question.
11-year-old Jeremiah Mulbah narrated that he has never attended school since his birth due to lack of support. At his aged, Jeremiah is worried that time is going against him. He explained that his parents cannot afford to send him to school. “I am eager to go to school, but my parents are not able to send me to school because they don’t have money”, village boy Jeremiah said.
Jeremiah’s dream is to see himself sitting in class with his friends, but his dream seems to be far from reality due to the poor condition of his parents. That is why at age 11, he yet to attend school.
Jeremiah’s dream to become educated is not just limited to his desire to help his parents and village people. He also wants to go to school to help develop his country, something he said is possible if he gets the necessary support to attend school.
The issue of lack of support for education is not only unique to Jeremiah in the village of Kuyon. RRNN gathered that several children in that community are out of school due lack of support. As a result, the children are often compelled to join their parents on the farms.
But in the midst of the uncertainty, little boy Jeremiah believes God will one day send his destiny helper who will send him to school. I know I will go to school one day, and I will learn to come back and help my people and my country”, he predicted the future
He said he can’t wait to see his destiny helper taking him from poverty to prosperity through education, adding, he feels bad whenever he sees his friends going to school while he is going on the farm with his parents or sitting home.
“Looking at my age and someone who is growing, my parents do not have the hand to send me to school. I am kindly asking people to help me because I really want go to school”, Jeremiah Mulbah said in a sad tone.
