River Gee County-Monday, May 26, 2025 – The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) River Gee County team has arrested a notorious Nigerian illicit drug dealer with high value dangerous substances.

KC Okonkwo, the 30 years old Nigerian national who has long resided in River Gee commercial hub of Gbeapo Kanweaken was arrested over the weekend in the area.

It followed a crackdown initiative launched against drug trafficking by the LDEA in River Gee.

On May 23, 2025, Onkonwo, a man who has been arrested several times for dealing in illegal drugs, was arrested in Kanweaken for the same act, further adding to his record of drug-related crimes in the area.

His most recent arrest occurred when law enforcement discovered an old television suspiciously wrapped in black plastic and packed in a carton delivered to him by an unknown vehicle.

Upon further examination of the television, authorities uncovered the concealed narcotics inside.

He was taken into custody at Combat Gate in Chedepo Administrative District with 106.9 grams of heroin and 101.0 grams of drug precursors. The value of the confiscated illegal drugs at over $713,700 Liberian Dollars.

Known for repeated offenses, Okonkwo has faced multiple arrests for similar crimes.

Despite prior detention, he has continued with his unlawful activities.

According to our reporter, Okonkwo is currently under investigation and is expected to appear in the Fish Town Magisterial Court today, May 26, 2025.

Officials regard this arrest as a crucial advancement in efforts to dismantle drug trafficking operations in that south-eastern county.

Richard N. Nangoe, the LDEA Commander for River Gee County, reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to combating drug trafficking, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring that repeat offenders like Okonkwo face legal consequences.

Authorities continue to prioritize the protection of communities and the enforcement of law and order in their ongoing battle against narcotics.
