River Gee County – Tuesday, June 17, 2025 – The health system in River Gee County is experiencing a considerable leadership crisis following the Ministry of Health’s recent decision to recall County Health Officer Dr. Masuah T. Kokro. The reasons for her removal have not been disclosed to healthcare workers in the area.

Dr. Kokro, who had served in her role for only a year after succeeding Dr. Henry Y. Dugulu, is the third County Health Officer to be replaced within the last two to three years.

Recalled County Health Officer ,Dr. Masuah T. Kokro.

The trend of frequent leadership changes has created unease among health workers, who are dissatisfied with the removal of leaders they deemed capable.

At present, the health system in River Gee County lacks a County Health Officer, Administrator, and Accountant, contributing to a significant leadership vacuum that is hindering the daily operations of health facilities throughout the region and raising concern among staff.

Local residents and healthcare professionals are urgently calling on the Ministry of Health and the national government to intervene and swiftly appoint new leaders to stabilize the county’s health services and restore essential administrative roles.
