Monrovia, Liberia-Friday, October 10, 2025- The Liberia Standards Authority (LiSA) has made significant strides in enhancing the country’s quality infrastructure by gaining Correspondent Membership of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
This achievement in a release Tuesday according to the organization marks a crucial step forward for LiSA and Liberia, demonstrating its commitment to global standardization.
LiSA’s Correspondent Membership with ISO grants Liberia access to international standards, enhances stakeholder engagement, and opens doors to valuable capacity-building opportunities.
The Authority has also secured official membership status in the African Electro-technical Standardization Commission (AFSEC), allowing for direct adoption of IEC/AFSEC electro-technical standards, technical capacity building, and increased regional trade and market access.
These memberships will enhance Liberia’s trade competitiveness, expand energy access, and promote quality infrastructure, aligning with the country’s long-term vision.
In attendance at the ISO General Assembly is Lisa’s Director General, Stephen Y. Mambu, where global leaders and experts will discuss driving sustainable growth through international standards.
LiSA will align its electro-technical committees with AFSEC’s technical working groups, integrate AFSEC/IEC standards into national regulatory frameworks, and raise awareness among stakeholders on the benefits of this expanded international engagement.
