Monrovia, Liberia |March 4, 2026| The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) recently met with Starlink, a satellite internet service engineered by SpaceX, on the sidelines of the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

The meeting focused on practical collaboration to expand Starlink’s services in Liberia, with discussions centered on improving regulatory frameworks to support innovation while safeguarding national interests.

LTA Chairman Hon. Clarence K. Massaquoi emphasized the need for clear regulations that balance innovation with national interests.

Key priorities included quality of service, regulatory compliance, and ensuring value for money for customers. The meeting also highlighted the importance of extending reliable connectivity to remote areas where traditional network infrastructure is limited.

LTA reaffirmed its commitment to enabling investment while maintaining strong oversight, while Starlink expressed readiness to work closely with national authorities.

This partnership marks a step forward in aligning technological expansion with national development goals, ensuring inclusive and sustainable digital growth for all.

Starlink’s entry into Liberia is expected to boost internet access, especially in rural areas, and introduce competition in the market.

The service is already operational in several African countries, including Nigeria, Rwanda, and Mozambique.
