Zorzor, Lofa County [March 24,2025] – The Liberia Kickball Federation (LKF) has approved the establishment of a third-division kickball league in Zorzor and Salayea Districts, Lofa County.
The establishment of the league is to provide opportunities for young girls who are passionate about the sport.
Speaking as a guest on Alternative Youth Radio Sports Arena, Joseph Fromayan, head of the Zorzor and Salayea Chapter, revealed that the initiative has been a long-time dream since his arrival in Lofa County in 2020.
Having worked with multiple schools and club teams, he has helped developed several good players.
Notable among them is Princess Bemah and Patience Sackie, the most valuable player (MVP) of the recently concluded National County Meet.
Fromayan stressed that having observed the raw talents of many girls in the region he was inspired to push for a structured competition.
According to him, he had consultations with friends and professional colleagues from the Liberia Kickball Federation who have given him approval for the establishment of the league.
The establishment is permissible provided that at least six teams participate in the league.
Four teams have already expressed interest, and discussions are ongoing to encourage additional teams to join.
Participating teams are expected to pay L$5,000 meant to contribute to the operational costs of the league.
Fromayan was however quick to point out what he called ‘knowledge gap’ regarding kickball rules.
He noted that many players and spectators often feel cheated due to a lack of understanding of the game’s regulations.
In response, the Kickball Federation has agreed to organize training programs for referees, coaches, and club officials.
Participants who complete the training will receive a ‘Level D’ certificate and exhibition matches will be held to test their knowledge of the game.
He called on all individuals passionate about kickball to support the initiative, emphasizing that the league will help nurture young talents and promote the sport in Lofa County.
