Voinjama City-Sports officials of Lofa County under the banner, Lofa Sports Association Resource and Mobilization Committee on Sunday, November 2, 2025, broke grounds for the construction of a Modern soccer stadium in Voinjama.

The Groundbreaking ceremony was witnessed by traditional chiefs and elders, women leaders, commissioners, religious community, business community and special guests from Monrovia.

The cost of the project is put at US$50,000 and will be funded from the County Development Funds. Officials say the project is expected to be completed before 2027.

Project Director, Ignatius Boaka gave the overview of the project and said that when completed, the stadium will have the capacity to host about 25 to 35,000 spectators. He said the stadium will have electricity, stores and will be the catalyst for economic activities in Lofa County. He noted that the stadium will symbolize the Lofa spirit in the sports arena.

The General Chairman of the Lofa Sports Association Resource and Mobilization Committee, Senator Momoh Tarnuekollie Cyrus said the stadium project is the initiative of the citizens of Lofa County, and therefore, all citizens of the county should contribute to the project.

“Thank God the media is here! I want to say this very clear and let the media carry it. This is not a government funded project, this is Lofa citizens’ initiative” Senator Momoh Tarnuekollie Cyrus said in a special message at the ground breaking ceremony in Voinjama.

Lofa County Legislative Caucus represented by District #3 Representative, Momo Siafa Kpoto pledged the Caucus support to the stadium project and said it will be fully supported by the Caucus.

“We will publicly pronounce the amount we intend to contribute to this project when President Joseph Nyuma Boakai visits the county for the Christmas Celebration, but for now, all I can say is that, I’m just a messenger and we will fully support this project” Representative Kpoto disclosed.
