Voinjama City, Lofa County |Dec. 13, 2025 |Each year, Lofa County received money from National Government called “COUNTY DEVELOPMENT FUND”(CDF) for the sole purpose of developing key areas in the Local government to sustain their functions.
For this year, Lofa County received the total amount of US$186,666.00USD for County Development.
On Friday December 12, 2025, the County Council under the Chairmanship of Mr. Mohammed Kamara conducted the County Sitting for 2025 to decide on how much should be allocated per sector relative holistic development of the County.

According to some citizens and financial professionals, the allocation was not fair to some Institutions including the local media including radio stations and others not directly mentioned.
This year county sitting was marred by serious disagreement with some participants in attendance stating that some key ‘priorities’ area were left out.
Some of them even went as far as provoking the county leadership headed by Superintendent J. Lavelah Massaquoi and the chairman for the County Council for not prioritizing a number of key areas in the County.
They are meanwhile calling on the County Council to revisit the allocations made during the sitting.
On Friday December 12, 2025, some participants representing different institutions expressed their dissatisfaction over the manner in which the allocation was done as mentioned below.

Administration Building – US$4,000
Sports Stadium – US$50,000
Community Radios – US$3,500
Maintenance – US$1,500
Lofa Women Development – US$1,500
MIA and Administration Building Security – US$1,500
Lubricant & Fuel for Superintendent’s Car – US$1,000
Five Electoral Districts – US$50,000
Support to VCC – US$3,000
LOSU – US$3,000
Administrative Cost – US$10,000
Lofa Sports Association – US$15,000
County Council Sitting Fees – US$2,000
Support to WASH – US$3,166
Support to Lofa Youth – US$3,000
Support to Lofa Prison – US$1,000
Lofa County Blind Association – US$1,500
Disabled Community – US$2,000
Construction of LIS Checkpoint at John’s Town – US$23,000
Total: US$186,666.00USD
In the meantime, the above appropriations as part of the county’s budget for 2025 as far as County Development Fund is concerned and has been decided and agreed upon and unless something out of the ordinary happens, the decision made by the County Council during its most recent sitting remain enforced.
