Monrovia, Saturday, September 13, 2025- The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) in a statement Friday, September 12, 2025 says, it’s currently reviewing Starlink’s one-year provisional license and is seeking feedback from subscribers to guide future regulatory and policy decisions.
Starlink, a satellite internet service provider owned by SpaceX, was granted a one-year provisional license to operate in Liberia, with the goal of expanding high-speed internet access across the country.
In October 2024, the LTA signed a landmark agreement with Starlink, allowing the company to deliver high-speed internet services to Liberians. This development aims to bridge the digital divide, particularly in rural and underserved areas where internet connectivity has been limited.
With Starlink’s satellite technology, Liberia hopes to increase its internet penetration rate, currently standing at around 33.6% of the population.
The universal Starlink’s satellite-based internet service will enable Liberia to achieve universal internet coverage for the first time in its history in providing critical backup for Liberia’s internet infrastructure, ensuring continuous connectivity even during outages.
The service also premises to benefit key institutions nationwide, including hospitals, schools, and government offices.
“If you subscribe to Starlink services, you can provide feedback by completing a 2-minute survey. Your input will help the LTA make informed decisions about the future of Starlink services in Liberia” a statement from the LTA narrated.
The LTA encourages all Starlink subscribers to participate in this survey and share their experiences with the service. “Your feedback will play a crucial role in shaping the future of internet connectivity in Liberia” said the LTA.
