ZWEDRU – A resident of Zwedu, Grand Gedeh County, Hezekiah Quayee, whose lifeless body was discovered in Boleyville Community, Kudah Bye Pass, in Zwedru during the early morning hours of 15 October, has been linked to criminal activities.

Police in Grand Gedeh told reporters upon the discovery of Quayee’s battered corpse that prior to his death, the adult male was involved in multiple criminal activities.

Liberia National Police (LNP) Officer Harry Duwaye divulged that before his demise, Quayee was involved in crimes such as phone-snatching, burglary, and theft of property, among others.

Officer Duwaye added that the deceased was on numerous occasions arrested by the police, indicating that Quayee even once spent time at the National Palace of Corrections in Zwedru as a pre-trial detainee.

The discovery of Quayee’s shirtless corpse sent shockwaves down the spines of many in Boleyville Community, Kudah Bye Pass, as his lifeless body was covered with bruises and riddled with what appeared as multiple cutlass wounds.

It is believed he was caught and overpowered by a mob made up of some unidentified community members, while allegedly on one of his missions of thievery.

The assailants of Quayee, who was reportedly married with children at the time of his death, tied rope to his neck and dragged his corpse allegedly from where he was murdered, to the spot his lifeless body was discovered.

A report on the incident released by a 15-man coroner jury set up by the LNP revealed that Quayee was beaten to death while attempting to steal.

Police ordered Quayee to be buried after neither any member of his family nor his wife showed up to claim his corpse.

Meanwhile, at the time of going to press, police were yet to make any arrest in connection with the gruesome murder of Quayee.
