A 33-year-old man from Karluway District in Maryland County, who was allegedly pawned to a witchcraft network in Karloken by his mother has been discovered alive.
Kingba Musu who had been reported missing since January 9, 2026, was discovered alive, prompting immediate investigation by local security officials.
Authorities allege that Musu’s disappearance was orchestrated by his mother, Martha Musu, who reportedly admitted to pawning her son to a woman named Vero from Karloken as part of a purported witchcraft network.
On January 12, 2026, around 8:30 a.m., Liberia Immigration Service Commander John Blamo, alongside Inspector Samuel T. Brown Jr. Including the Police Commander of Karluway District visited Warteken Town to investigate delays in finding Musu.
During their visit, General Town Chief Isaac Sieh informed the officers that Musu had been found alive. Upon meeting him, the security personnel noticed visible signs of physical injuries, including bruises on his face and a swollen left eye suggesting he may have experienced abuse.
Emergency medical assistance was immediately arranged for Musu, while authorities continued investigation into circumstances leading to his disappearance and the allegations of mistreatment.
This incident raises concerns about the ongoing issue of missing persons in Karluway District. Notably, a 50-year-old man vanished from the area on March 13, 2024, and has not been located since, while 45-year-old Anthony W. Toe disappeared in July 2024 under similar troubling condition. Additionally, on January 5, 2026, another individual, a motorcyclist named Obediah Nyakpor, went missing in Barrobo.
Meanwhile, law enforcement officials said they are committed to thoroughly investigating Musu’s case and the broader trend of missing persons in the area stating that any individual found responsible will face legal consequences.
