Monrovia, Liberia| Jan. 30, 2026 | The Ministry of National Defense has officially launched its Hospital Management System (HMS) at the 14 Military Hospital in Margibi County.

The launching ceremony, held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, brought together officials of the Ministry of National Defense, the High Command of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), and development partners, particularly representatives of the United States Embassy near Monrovia.

Providing an overview of the initiative, the Comptroller of the Ministry of National Defense, Madam Dannamae Gurley-Sirleaf, said the project began in 2024 and is intended to improve transparency, accountability, and timely service delivery at the 14 Military Hospital. She described the launch as a major achievement and expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Ministry of National Defense and the Armed Forces of Liberia for their unwavering support.

Officially launching the system, the Commander of the 14 Military Hospital, Major Dr. Albertha Clark-Kollie, described the initiative as a significant milestone in the hospital’s development. She said the system will help create a smarter, more connected, and patient-centered healthcare environment.

Major Dr. Clark-Kollie explained that the Hospital Management System integrates patient registration, electronic medical records, appointment scheduling, billing, laboratory services, pharmacy management, and reporting into one secure platform. She noted that the system will reduce delays, improve coordination, and allow healthcare workers more time to focus on patient care.

Speaking on behalf of the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia, the Commander of the 23rd Infantry Brigade, Colonel Murphy T. Roland, said the launch reflects the leadership’s commitment to transforming military healthcare. He emphasized that medical readiness is essential to operational readiness and urged hospital staff to use the system with discipline and professionalism.

In brief remarks, the Minister of National Defense, Brigadier General Geraldine J. George, thanked the team for making the initiative a reality. She praised President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for his leadership and described the launch as an important step toward modernizing military health services and strengthening governance, transparency, and efficiency in service delivery to the Armed Forces of Liberia and the people of Liberia.
