Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County – Friday, October 10, 2025-The Ministry of Education (MOE) has provided a significant boost to the school system in Grand Gedeh County, distributing essential instructional materials to various educational districts over the past weekend.
The initiative was spearheaded by the Grand Gedeh County Education Officer (CEO), Mr. Elijah G. Freeman, who confirmed the delivery.
Relieving Financial Pressure
According to CEO Freeman, the core purpose of the distribution is to alleviate the financial stress placed on families. He specifically noted that the materials will help eliminate the collection of test fees from students and parents during examination periods.

“The supply is intended to run the day-to-day operations of schools across the county,” Mr. Freeman stated, emphasizing that the aid will support the fundamental administrative and educational needs of the institutions.
Districts Reached and Enrollment Update
The instructional materials have been successfully delivered to schools in several key educational districts, including Tchien, Cavalla, Gbarzon, Putu, and Konobo.
In an encouraging update, Mr. Freeman also reported that student enrollment across the county is demonstrating “gradual improvement” for the current academic year.
Persistent Challenges Remain
Despite the positive step of supplying materials, the CEO was transparent about the significant hurdles that continue to plague the county’s schools. Mr. Freeman outlined a series of challenges that school administrators must contend with, including chronic teacher shortages and the poor state of infrastructure across many campuses.
The MOE’s effort marks a vital intervention aimed at sustaining educational quality while the county continues to address the systemic operational and infrastructural deficits.
