Konia, Lofa County –Tuesday, August 19, 2025-Tears, prayers, and cries for justice filled the Revival Church in Konia Town on Friday, August 15, 2025, as residents gathered to seek divine intervention over a wave of mysterious deaths and disappearances in Zorzor District.
The two-day fasting and prayer service, organized by the Zeyeama Clan Union of Churches, brought together more than 150 worshippers from over ten congregations. The event was driven by fear and grief over recurring unsolved killings and missing persons’ cases in the district, particularly within the Zeyeama Clan.

Rev. Gbaguyea M. Gbogee, President of the Zeyeama Union of Churches, described the area as a “dangerous zone” due to the disturbing trend. He stressed that while the church plans to formally petition the government, their first response was to seek God’s intervention.
“We went on our knees to ask God for wisdom and for Him to expose those behind these dastardly acts. Our people are living in fear, and we cannot continue like this,” Rev. Gbogee said.
Serving as guest preacher, Rev. David Zarwu, head of the Union of Churches in Zorzor, delivered a sermon under the theme “Be Your Brother’s Keeper.” He lamented that citizens have been killed “like chickens” and urged communities to unite and report any wrongdoing.
“The church has risen up in anger to put an end to this. We must be our brother’s keeper. When you see something wrong, report it,” Rev. Zarwu told worshippers.
A History of Unsolved Deaths
For over 15 years, Zorzor District has been plagued by unexplained killings and disappearances. At least ten major cases have been reported, most of which remain unresolved:
2010: The body of Korpo Kamara was found near a mosque in Konia with body parts missing. No arrests were made.
2015: The death of Sianneh Gayflor in Zorzor Town sparked protests and a curfew, but the investigation stalled.
2018: Student Krubo Gibson was murdered on a farm in Zelemai/Fassabu. Her killer was sentenced to life in prison — the only case with justice served.
2020: Several women in Fissebu died mysteriously; no official report was released.
2022: Hunter Kolubah Bogie Tarnue went missing and was later found dead, reportedly with body parts removed. No suspects were charged.
2025: An unidentified body was found on the Fissebu highway in April. A month later, a two-year-old boy vanished in Konia and has not been found.
These repeated tragedies have left grieving families without answers and fueled widespread fear. Many residents believe the deaths are linked to ritualistic activities, while others point to weak investigations and government silence.
“Prayers Until Justice Comes”
At the Konia service, community members made it clear they are seeking help from both God and the authorities.
“We are praying. We want God to reveal the truth to us,” one participant said. “We cannot continue to live in fear.”
For now, the people of Zorzor District, especially in Zeyeama Clan, cling to faith and prayers, waiting for the day truth will be uncovered and justice delivered.
