Monrovia, Liberia |March 26, 2026| Over two decades, Director General Dewitt von Ballmoos has spearheaded a remarkable transformation of Liberia’s National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP), turning it into a multimillion-dollar entity.

Focus on Liberia (FOL), an African Diaspora media institution, credits von Ballmoos with implementing major reforms to Liberia’s social security program, driving nationwide infrastructure development and extensive capacity-building initiatives.

Under von Ballmoos’ leadership, NASSCORP has achieved significant financial growth, with its investment portfolio growing from $4.7 million in 2006 to $50 million by 2025.

The corporation has also disbursed over $106 million to 15,602 beneficiaries between 2006 and 2022, with $69.4 million paid out between 2020 and 2025 alone.

Von Ballmoos’ leadership has been recognized internationally, with his election as Chairman of the Technical Commission on Contribution Collection and Compliance of the International Social Security Association (ISSA).

The National Social Security and Welfare Corporation, otherwise known as NASSCORP, is a Liberian institution that’s been around for over 50 years, providing social security protection to employees in both public and private sectors.

Established in 1975, it’s administered two key programs: the Employment Injury Scheme (EIS) and the National Pension Scheme (NPS).
