Monrovia, Liberia |Feb. 20, 2026| A productive working session has been taking place today at One UN House in Monrovia to review the draft Communications Policy and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the Communications Section of the National Elections Commission of Liberia (NEC-Liberia).
The session brought together key NEC technicians from Communications, ICT, and Live Broadcast, along with representatives of the UNDP Liberia Electoral Support Project.
Participants thoroughly reviewed, refined, and aligned the draft Communications Policy and SOPs to ensure greater clarity, efficiency, and accountability in managing the Commission’s public communications.
Meanwhile, the working group strengthened the overall framework, marking a significant step towards a more structured, coordinated, and professional Communications Section at NEC-Liberia.
Upon completion, the revised Communications Policy and SOPs will be forwarded through the Secretariat to the NEC Board of Commissioners (BoC) for validation.
The policy will guide the management of the NEC website, social media platforms, traditional media engagement, as well as internal and external communications, among other key functions.
Observers believed that as the country’s edges toward 2029, the National Elections Commission is certainly on the right trajectory as far as institutional reform is concerned. They believed, this is bound to strategically position the overarching electoral body in conducting future elections in violent free and impartial context.
