Lofa County –Thursday, August 21, 2025-The NENIKPOMAH Initiative, a women’s empowerment organization established in Bong County in 2020, has extended its programs into Lofa County, targeting communities in Salayea and Zorzor Districts.

Speaking to Alternative Youth Radio on August 20, 2025, Co-founder Garmai Barco Barclay said the initiative offers training in soap production, agriculture, and small loan programs aimed at boosting women’s economic independence.

Since its launch in Bong County, the program has helped participants establish small businesses and support their families. In its new expansion, the organization has also donated motorbikes to youth groups and organized a one-day feeding program for 12th-grade students in Salayea, Zorzor, and Konia after the WASSCE exams.

While some beneficiaries in Bong and Lofa counties report increased income and greater involvement in community activities, independent verification of the initiative’s overall impact remains limited. Development experts have cautioned that long-term success will depend on sustained training, market access, and reliable funding.

The leadership of NENIKPOMAH maintains that the initiative is non-political and community-driven. Observers, however, stressed that collaboration with local authorities and the adoption of clear performance metrics will be crucial in measuring its long-term impact and effectiveness.
